Priyanka Chopra Jonas Serves Up a Dynamic Brunch—And Shows Off Her Knife Skills

Cooking might not be her “strong suit,” as Citadel star Priyanka Chopra Jonas forewarns, but she can sure make a strong (and spicy!) Bloody Maria.

That’s her aperitif of choice—swapping a traditional Bloody Mary’s vodka out for tequila, and topping it off with a very generous helping of Tabasco sauce, retrieved from her purse—as she prepares a queenly brunch for Vogue’s Now Serving series. The other components? A “cereal spectacular” (more on that shortly) and one delicious-looking stuffed omelette. “Now that I have this,” she quips, drink in hand, “I have the courage to get on to the serious cooking.”

The meal’s amuse-bouche is, well, a bowl of cereal with 2% milk—but there’s more to it than that. Here, a “base” cereal (think Cheerios, for instance) is mixed with a “flair” cereal: something a little sweeter and more indulgent. After a hearty, crunchy spoonful, Chopra Jonas pronounces it “good.” “I don’t know about this and a Bloody Maria together, though,” she notes—and fair enough!

Up next? Something from Chopra Jonas’s childhood: an omelette filled with sausage, mushroom, chili peppers, and cheese, with a side of tamarind chutney toast and a bit of sambal. As the actor soon proves, cook or not, she is fearsome with a knife—but that should come as no surprise. She does play a weapon-wielding spy in Citadel, Prime Video’s electric new action-thriller series, after all. “Knives have a very different meaning on that show,” she adds wryly.

And so, with her omelette successfully folded and her brioche good and chutney’ed, brunch is served. Chopra Jonas can’t help but be impressed: “Okay,” she admits, “I can’t not cook.”
