My Inspirational Friend

An inexhaustible source of exchanges, ideas and thoughts, friendship is creativity. These images signed by young photographic artists describe it. Free from the stereotypes of rhetoric.

IRIS HUMM

"It's hard to tell Sara apart from her twin sister Nayat, and it's even harder to imagine one without the other. They are both incredibly kind, funny, tender, strong, pleasant to be around, and most importantly, they always seem to be in sync. Born in a refugee camp in Western Sahara, where they grew up until the age of six, when they moved to Spain, they quickly gained a solid reputation on the Barcelona skating scene. Nayat is one of the leading designers in the cryptocurrency world, while Sara has just published her first book, in which she talks about the journey that saw her return to the desert and the cultural conflict between the Saharawi society she was born into and her Western upbringing." "I'm the kind of photographer who tends to be inspired over and over again by the same person, the one who somehow understands and perfectly represents my vision and with whom you create an instant understanding. There are girls with whom I can easily communicate, also because I see something of myself in them. This has always been the case with Molly and Livvy. Whatever idea comes to me, they are part of it. Molly has been with me since the beginning of my photographic journey, while Livvy started appearing in my work a year ago, and hasn't left since. Photographing them has helped me develop my aesthetic, but also to explore and accept certain aspects of myself and express them through images. Sometimes I try to force myself to step out of my comfort zone and choose someone else, but then I always end up going back to them. Because they are who my stories are made for. For the girls who daydream and feel lost, the ones who are trying to find their place in the world and, from time to time, feel a little rebellious." Guen Fiore

LUCA  ANZALONE

"Sometimes you keep looking for something, you look for a sense of freedom that fills in the gaps. You leave all thoughts aside and sink into creative chaos. When you're surrounded by special people who are sure of who they are, you can't help but feel inspired to be brave, to dare, to let your imagination connect with them and evolve. I have always felt accepted and part of a great community. I feel the desire to be part of a common ideal that can help us express ourselves in a pure and true way. Their personalities attract me and I manage in every occasion to capture portraits that are not ordinary, special, suspended. I breathe their intimacy. They are not sterile, they don't pretend to be something. They are, they really are". Luca Anzalone

"I know Anna from kindergarten, we were both three years old. Now we are twenty-nine, our friendship has never stopped. Anna is a special person with a huge heart. She has decided to dedicate her life to caring for others, to helping those in need. Focusing her energies on those who will be our future - children. Anna is a source of inspiration for her energy and the love she dedicates to everyone, by her nature everything she does, from work, to study, to personal relationships is full of care and attention". ELEONORA AGOSTINI

"Yushi and I studied together during our respective Master of Arts degrees: that's how we met. Since then, I have always been a great admirer of her work and find the way she navigates through aesthetics and concepts very inspiring. I chose to photograph Yushi with one of her models to create a dialogue between my own and her work and focus on what our artistic practices have in common." Eleonora Agostini
